Start Your Engines...
Logan was able to enjoy his first trip to the offshore boat races down at the Lake this past weekend. We thought he'd surely be startled by the loud screeching of the boats racing by...but in fact he seemed to think it was pretty cool. Even more than loving the boats - he really thought the low flying helicopters were pretty awesome! We spent both days out in the boat and he was quite the little trooper!

Nothing's Better Than a Day at the Zoo with Friends!
The Poll Is In! - Rrrrr...
You guys guessed it! Logan is going to be a LION for Halloween this year! While we really thought a duck or a monkey would be appropriate, this costume was so darn cute on him, we just couldn't pass it up! He's also been practicing his vicious roar, which is actually more like a soft, monotone sounding like rrrrr... We've got a few weeks to keep working on his roar but won't be showing off cute pics of that costume for a bit still...sorry, guess you'll just have to come back and visit again!

Chocolate Soul Patch
Since school has started up, I decided it was time to step it up and send out a care package to Uncle Alex - wishing him good luck this semester at Mizzou - not that he needs it of course! What better to add to the care package than brownies and who better to help than - Logan!
He did a great job mixing and even helping dump in one of the cracked eggs! He especially enjoyed pouring the ingredients into the bowl and then of course getting a little taste of what was left in the bowl before sending them to the oven - the best part in my opinion!
As soon as Jason found out Uncle Alex was getting brownies, he petitioned that he needed some for himself as well - okay, so maybe I wanted some too, so we made another batch! And voila - Logan's finished product turned out quite yummy!

No! No!

On a side note, ask me in a couple months if I'm still impressed by his use of the word "no?" - I'm guessing my comment, said with a tone of irony and sarcasm will be - No! No!

Finger Paintin' Fun!
Jason is out of town this week for work, so Logan and I have been trying to find fun new creative things to do together to pass the time. One of our fun activities was finger painting! We used an old t-shirt for a smock, and made homemade finger paint out of flour, water and food coloring. Logan was a little hesitant at first but had a great time getting down and dirty after realizing how fun it can be!

Unofficially Closing Down Summer...
We were pleasantly surprised with an impromptu visit by Uncle Alex on Sunday afternoon. We couldn't resist letting Logan wear around his

Update: Better
So, this mornings class was better than the last but there were still a few tears shed. He really enjoyed the scarves again during the beginning of class but as soon as the rest of the group joined he clammed up...poor guy, I think he just gets nervous with so many other people in the room! The good thing though is by the last 10 minutes he was running around in circles yelling...I never thought I'd say that I thought that was normal...but I guess that's just Logan!

Where Can You Sing and Dance?
You ask - where is the best place to sing and dance with your little one? Why Kindermusik of course! Okay, so you may have never thought to ask that question but Logan started Kindermusik last Friday and we thought we'd share:
The first class went like this. We arrived to class as one of the first ones; there were scarves in the middle of the floor and Logan loved them! He threw them around and rolled with them covering his face giggling. I'm thinking to myself, "Wow, he's already having a blast!" As more and more people arrived, he was still doing okay, walking around and checking everyone out. As class continued, we took a turn downhill. He clung to my lap as we sang and attempted to dance around the room. He stared at everyone with a look that said, "Why are you singing and dancing around likean idiot my mom - I just want to go back to sleep?!" Finally, with about 10 minutes remaining of class he warmed up a little, stepped away and actually got into the music a little by bouncing up and down. After talking with the instructor, she said it typically takes a few classes to get warmed up to the environment, which I should have guessed since it always takes Logan a bit to warm up to anything.
While in the car we've been listening the Kindermusik CD to get him a little more familiar and he's been bobbing his head non-stop. So...we've got another class tomorrow morning, hopefully it will be just a little better than the last. Wish us luck...we'll be back after class with an update!

Site Seeing In Kansas City
How many people site see in their own city?! Okay, so maybe it's not called site seeing when you live here. Anyway, this past weekend Grandma Jill and Grandpa Ronnie were in town and we spent a lot of time enjoying fun things around the city.

Logan had a wonderful time checking out each room at Wonderscope. As you can see he thoroughly enjoyed the H2Oh! Room as well as the Market where he was able to push all the buttons on the cash register - maybe he likes numbers like his dad?? What a wonderful place - we'll be back for sure!

Loose Park
Back to Loose Park again to see the ducks. This time we packed a wonderful picnic of muffelettas, homemade pasta salad, fresh fruit, warm fudge brownies and a bottle of wine (minus the wine for Logan!) We also took a stroll through the rose garden which Logan was thrilled about since he loves flowers so much!
Crown Center
We enjoyed lunch at Fritz's Railroad Restaurant for the first time where our burgers were delivered to us via a train. Logan had a blast in his conductors hat and loved watching the trains. Afterward we ventured over to see a great Lego exhibit and then across the street to play in the spray fountains. We were pleasantly surprised when being asked (via loudspeaker) to step out of the fountains because a show was about to begin. We then sat and watched a private (because it was too cold for anyone else to play in the fountains!) show of water spouting in sync to the Kansas City Symphony - it was incredible.
